Oil has become the key contemporary energy source due to large-scale gasoline application in the internal combustion engine (ICE). Motor transport accounts for the biggest share in oil consumption and so far has been the main oil market driver. This sector has always been associated with a promising future of oil.
Shall this statement be relevant in the future, or the ongoing technological breakthroughs in auto industry will affect the existing state of affairs? In this study we will try to answer these and other questions by assessing the impact of trends in automotive technologies development on global oil consumption.
